4-19

20th April 2009

The Dodgers are still streaking looking to win their eighth straight game today, while the Marlins are 11-1, and off to an incredible start to the season.  Over the weekend the Yankees had their first game at the new Yankee Stadium, which they ended up losing 10-2, but it wasn’t C.C’s fault like his first game. He pitched well, but the bullpen gave it away…. And 1 day after losing 22-4 , the Yanks pulled it out today with a 7-3 win.

And for the Red Sox, Lester is finally on the right track with a big win today vs the Orioles.

A bit more news…..  Dice K was put on the 15 day DL for arm fatigue, probably because all he pitched in the World Baseball Classic.

Carlos Quentin hit his 7th home run today, leading the majors through 12 games.

First Week

15th April 2009

After the first week of games, there are lots of exciting news.  To start out, Evan Longoria already has 5 home runs in 6 games, the Blue Jays and Orioles are 1st and 2nd in the AL East…

Josh Beckett just got suspended 6 games for throwing at BObby Abreu in their game vs the Angels..http://deadspin.com/5211936/josh-beckett-suspended-six-games interestingly so, Abreu is a former Yankee, whom Beckett doesn’t like anyways.

Ichiro is expected to come off the DL in a couple of days, and Ken Griffey is 1 home run shy of 400 as a Mariner…..

Kalas, the Phillies announcer, died earlier yesterday before a game when he passed out in a booth

Tom Glavine has an inflamed rotator cuff….. and of course the worst team in the majors last year the Nationals, is to no suprise, 0-7 this year, still the only team without a win this year… and that’s it for now….

Opening Day!

10th April 2009

So as the season gets underway, we are all excited. C. C. started for the yankees, which ended up horribly in Baltimore, with a 5BB and 0 strikeout game…. first time since ‘03 without a strikeout….  The Yankees dropped the first two to Baltimore, but ended up saving the sweep today.

The Rangers, yes I said the Rangers, swept the Indians today, starting the season at 3-0…….. watch out for the boys from Texas!  Other sweeps included the Marlins, but they did the sweeping… haha, the Nationals got off to another bad start at 0-3…

But above all, we are all mourning the loss of Nick Adenhart, an Angel rookie who died in a car crash after one of his games.  As we pray for him and his family, we wish them the best……

Almost Time!!!

03rd April 2009

Well Today, the Yankees took the field for batting practice at their new 1.5 billion dollar stadium… and although noone really recorded anything…. Derek Jeter did hit the first home run at the new ball park during batting practice.

With Only 3 days away teams are starting to put their lineups together… The Rangers recently said that Andruw Jones, whom they signed to their minor league club, has earned a fifth outfield job…

The TIgers released Gary Sheffield, whom is probably going to Philadelphia to play for the Phillies.. Since they lost Burrell….. whom was a big power man in their lineup last year.

If you wanna know any other trade rumors check out this blog… http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/02/baseball-blog-2.html

Scott Baker, who was supposed to start opening day for the Twins was just put on the DL, and Huston Steet , the powerful closer for the Rockies who came over for Matt Holliday, was named their closer. Thats about all I have for now… be back soon…. would appreciate any feedback

27th March 2009

10 days left, and I can’t wait. I’m getting so excited I can’t even concentrate on anything else I’m supposed to be doing. So any more news, let’s see….

The Yankees have named C.C. Sabathia their starter for opening day, and their starter for their home opener at their new stadium….

And as I had mentioned earlier, Miguel Tejada, and his Congress holding… He finally got a verdict and it wasn’t great… He got a 5,000 dollar fine, as well as 1 year probation, including 100 hours of community service, and that doesn’t include playing baseball.. haha

As for spring training, the Angels are still cruising at 20-4, man, if only they can do that in the regular season they might win the world series.. But my picks to win this year are of the course the Yankees, and I believe the Cubs get it done this year…….

25th March 2009

After losing to Korea, the US was knocked out of the WBC, just falling short of the final game, where Japan came out victorious again, with Dice-K winning yet another MVP.  So we move on to US baseball, with all of the WBC players joining their teams again, one of which is Derek Jeter, who comes back just in time to play who else, but the BOSOX…..

The White Sox name Mark Buerhle as their opening day pitcher, and the Dodgers are set to play their first night game at their new ballpark tonight at 10.

Only 11 more days till opening day… Curt Schilling has opted to retire after his incredible 20 year season, throught he bloody sock and all.  He was one of the best pitchers ever, and is no doubt grabbed his ticket to the Hall of Fame in my eyes.  Well thats it for today, be back thursday with any more exciting news…..

Some more information…..

20th March 2009

After winning its first two games in the second round of the WBC, the U.S. preceded to lose to Venezuela 5-3 who gained the top seed…..  Since they lost, they have to play Pool 1’s winner, on Sunday night 3/22.   Unfortunately, Derek Lee is no longer playing for us and neither is Dustin Pedroia who is comforting his sore hamstring.

Other news.. the Astros signed Ivan Rodriguez, Hanley Ramirez, the outstanding infielder for the marlins, is expected to be back for opening day in 17days…. and the MVP of last year is supposed to be in the Red Sox’s lineup for the night.

Lucky for the former champs, the Phillies fans can relax after Hamels feels fine after a long toss session.

Well I’ll be back soon with some more updates…..

Latest Info

13th March 2009

What’s up everyone, I’m back with some crucial information on this years Spring Training in the MLB…  And are now 24 days away from Opening Day!

Manny’s debut was delayed by a tight hamstring, so he should be back soon to playing.  Johan Santana, the Mets star pitcher has decided to take the mound tonight to test his injury, so we’ll see how that works out…

Although the USA lost to Venezuela in the WBC, they still went 2-1 and advanced to the next round.  The are set to play Puerto Rico at 7:00 Saturday night…..

And not that records matter in Spring Training, but the Astros are now 1-11, and aren’t looking too good. On the other hand, the Braves and the Angels are looking good at 10-2.  Well hopefully the USA can pull it out Saturday, and advance another day in the classic…. If we win, then we play the winner between the Netherlands and Venezuela at 7:00 on Monday… I’ll probably be back Tuesday with the update… thanks

06th March 2009

Games are still going on, but everyone is getting hurt while training for the World Baseball Classic which is coming up soon… Alex Rodriguez has a cist on his hip and is scheduled to have surgery and be out atleast 10 weeks! So he won’t be playing for the Dominican Republic this year….

The USA plays its first game in the World Baseball Classic versus Canada at 1:00 Saturday afternoon, so hope we can win that one…

As Promised, the update on Manny Ramirez…. excepting a 2 year 45 Million dollar deal, with a no trade clause and a player option after the first year. Sounds like a sweet deal to me.

That’s it for today, hopefully I’ll be back next week with any updates…

First Games

27th February 2009

So yesterday the first games of Spring Training were played, which marks another season is underway. Alex Rodriguez, who was booed at his first plate appearance, smacked a home run in his second at bat, which was followed up with a standing ovation. Is this is how it’s going to be for him this year?  I mean boo him until he hits a home run and then it’s okay?  Haha, I don’t understand fans nowadays.

Manny Ramirez, is expected to have a response to the Dodgers by Friday, which nobody really knows what he is going to do. And also Johan Santana, the star pitcher for the Mets is scratched from Friday’s start, which probably has some Mets fans a little worried.  More games were played today, with the Dbakcs and Dodgers scoring 31 runs between the two, and Jose Reyes belting two home runs for the day.  All these games just get me excited for the season, but I’ll be back next Tuesday with any more exciting news about this year’s spring training.
