Last Day

11th May 2009

Well, for my class project I am now done with my baseball blog.

I hope those of you who followed stay interested, because I will still be posting some cool MLB info on here throughout the season.  I hope my Yankees can get it together, and I hope that whoever yall root for does good also.  I can’t believe we’ve already played 35 games in the season, because soon enough it will be playoff time.  Well until next time,   Travis

To start out, The Mets completed the sweep of the Pirates tonight, the Reds lost to the Cardinals, which stopped their sweep , and the Angels sweeped the Royals, thanks to Torii Hunter’s game saving catch.

Manny Ramirez apologised to the Dodgers owner today after being suspended 50 games.

And most important today, was mothers day.  So most of the players wore pink wristbands in honor of their mothers.

Also, Ryan Zimmerman got another hit tonight which extends his streak to 28 games.

In Arod’s return to the diamond, the first pitch he saw he blew it over the fence for a three run home run which propelled the Yankees to a 4-0 win, which saw CC finally pitch an overpowering game.  But today the Yankees got crushed 12-5 to the Orioles.

Other news, the Angels handed Greinke his first loss of the season, which I thought would never come for him….  and Evan Longoria hit his 11th home run tonight adding 5 more RBI’s already to his league leading total.

Tonight Ryan Zimmerman just hit a solo home run in the eighth inning to extend his hitting streak to 27 games!!!!!

Rivera, one of the best closers of all time for the Yankees, did something last night that he hasn’t done in his whole career.  He served up back to back home runs in the ninth inning to Carl Crawford and Evan Longoria.  All fourteen years he has never done that, and its so crazy bcuz he hasn’t given up more than 5 home runs in any season, and this year he’s already allowed 4.  Something is wrong with him and once again, Girardi is being blamed for it…. but then again, he is the manager.

After being down 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth it looked like Boston was getting closer to a loss.  Well that was until they scored 12 straight runs in the inning, all without giving up an out! That is now a new American League record, and it just shows how good the Red Sox are playing.

After a terrible collision with the wall, Ryan Ankiel now is placed on the Dl for the Cardinals.

The Yankees lost again last night to the Rays, so Girardi’s job is starting to be placed under a microscope.  Speaking of my beloved Yankees, A-Rod continues to come back from his hip injury and is supposed to play tomorrow night for the Yanks.

Other crazy news, Manny Ramirez…. got caught using steroids, and will be suspended 50 games. He will not be able to play for a couple of months, which sucks because LA is so invested in him.  But, they have the teams best record in the MLB, so maybe it won’t mess with them that much.

After losing the first five games to the Red Sox the Yankees are looking for somebody to blame…. Who better else than Joe Girardi……

Especially since Ol Joe Torre is in Los Angeles who are 12-0 at home this year, and continue to win every night. Maybe it’s not Joe Girardi’s fault, but come on….. Torre is obviously a much better manager, and the Yankees need to figure out what to do about it. If the Yanks don’t make it to the playoffs again this year, Girardi’s chances of coming back are zero.  But, to Girardi’s credit, nobody is playing well for the yanks.  ARod hasnt even played yet, and CC cant seem to get things together…

Maybe it will turn around and they can get some wins, but for right now… It’s not looking too good for the Yanks.

Tonight the Yankees welcome the Bosox to town for the first time ever at the new Yankee Stadium. It’s gonna be a sell out and it’s gonna be a hell of a series, especially since the Yanks got swept in Boston a couple of weeks ago. Phillip Hughes gets the nod vs Lester, a couple of young guns trying to win it for their team.

Other news, Zack Greinke, looks to improve to a major league best 6-0 tonight, which would be an amazing start to the season.

In case you haven’t heard… Alex Rodriguez and the steroids controversy continues….  In  the upcoming book Selena Roberts has written titled A-Rod……  she has news that links A-Rod to taking steroids in high school, and that he has been pitch tipping while with the Rangers…. Of course he denies all of this , but my opinion I think she needs to stay out of his business.  There is no way you can accuse someone of taking steroids in high school, especially since that is when some people go through major muscle development.  Selena has no idea what she is talking about, and I wish everyone would realize this.

Other baseball news, the Cardinals still have the best record in the league at 17-8, and the Nats are still having a trouble winning at 6-17.
