McCain does not want to pull our soldiers out of Iraq before Iraq can govern itself.  McCain supports the Successful Counterinsurgency Strategy.  He also wants to push political reconciliation and good government in Iraq.  McCain wants to help get Iraq’s economy back on its feet.  McCain believes Syria and Iran have been the main causes of violence in Iraq and he wants to keep them from causing anymore violence.  John McCain also wants to be honest with the American people and let them know what is happening in Iraq and inform them of the progress being made.

Immigration

Monday, October 27th, 2008

Senator Obama believes we can crack down on illegal immigration by creating secure borders, fixing the dysfunctional immigration bureaucracy, cracking down on employers who hire undocumented immigrants, and by working with Mexico.  Obama supports allowing undocumented immigrants who are in good standing to pay a fine, learn English, and go to the back of the line for the opportunity to become citizens.

Senator McCain believes the solutions to illegal immigration are securing our borders, prosecuting employers who hire illegal immigrants, making it easier to find out if an applicant is legal, meeting America’s labor needs, and addressing the undocumented.

Stem Cell Research

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

I finally found an issue McCain and Obama both support.  Both John McCain and Barak Obama support stem cell research.  Both presidential candidates believe stem cell research could find the cure for cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.  Along with, treat spinal chord damage, knee injuries and serious burns.

I read that years ago McCain did not support stem cell research but I think the main thing is that he does now.  Years ago many opposed stem cell research because it was the fear of the unknown.  Many people are hesitant to support something they do not understand or have enough information about.

Gun Control

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

John McCain opposes gun control.  He believes that taking away law abiding citizens’ right to own guns is unconstitutional.  Instead of taking away everyone’s rights of owning guns, he believes that criminals who violate the law should be prosecuted to the fullest.  John McCain also opposes holding gun manufacturers liable for crimes others commit using a firearm.  He opposes ”waiting periods” for law abiding citizen’s purchase of firearms.  Not only is McCain against banning guns, he opposes banning ammunition.   Instead of banning gun control and ammunition, McCain believes gun owners should learn how to safely use and store their firearms.  He strongly supports gun safety devices and trigger locks.
