More Algorithms Please!

Have you ever done something over and over, to the point it feels like second nature? I have been taking a deeper look into the serving society, and have thought of something that seems so true. One day while I wasn’t too busy I was pondering the serving life and all the weird things that accommodate this profession, and I noticed how all my fellow servers were walking and talking like robots. The company I work for has strict guidelines for the way its employees operate. Every action a server makes has to be in strict accordance with the company’s guidelines, making it seem as if we are just robots programmed to be one way, no matter what. The longer I wait tables, the more I feel like just another prototype. The redundancy has become so utterly overbearing that I find myself in my dreams completing tasks and associating with others as if I were on the clock. My mentality is that I don’t know my guests, I don’t want to know get to know them, I am there to provide them a service, if I keep the routine I’ll make it out alive and they probably feel the same way about me. It has gotten to the point where I have had tables come and go and I didn’t even realize I served them because my mind was in a completely different world. But, that’s okay! As long as I can still pay my bills and go to school, I think I’ll put up with the repetition. Although, it SUCKS!
