Using examples from your supplements and the chapters (Krebs & Davies 1993) about economic decisions (foraging), predator/prey (coevolution) and competition for resources, how have the models (hypotheses) tested by behavioral ecologists progressed from relatively simple (e.g. foraging decisions) to relatively more complex (e.g. foraging while avoiding predators and escalating conflict with competitors)? Is the logic of natural selection an underlying thread that is consistent throughout all these models, even as they increase in complexity?
