How Do I Upload Videos?

Here are some instructions that you can download:

How to Upload Videos and Pics to Google Maps!!

Another option is to convert a video in quicktime format to a flash file format (fle), using macromedia flash 8.  For clips that are 6 min, the optimal window size is 320 pixels.  If the clip is 3 min.,  a window size of 480 pixels should work fine.  It is a trade off among size, quality and the speed of delivery.  Using Dreamweaver 8 or 9, you can then insert the flash file into a webpage.  It will be imbedded with an automatic link to the software to play videos in flash format.

1. We entered the pasture at 13:43 and at first glance, no animals were visible.

2. Toby spotted alone standing behind shelter full of addax along woodland edge.

3. At waterbuck shelter, the majority were present, even Lucifer. There was hay, salt lick, and a black bucket of mineral supplement available.

4. 1401 Lucifer sniffing a female without an ID tag. She responds by urination. Lucifer then does flehmen and gave her a head swat on her rear. She leaves and Lucifer becomes uninterested. Lucifer sniffed a yellow tagged female in the woodland edge by the shelter. She walks away and urinates. Lucifer does flehmen again and they began walking in circles. He becomes uninterested and walks away out of sight.

5. 1405 in shelter: Crooked tail calf and he is feeding on the mineral supplements. The other calf without an ID tag is laying down and chewing cud near mother (yellow tagged 58). She is standing and licking the calf from rear to ears repeatedly. As she is licking the calf, she stops to flehmen and yawn. The calf gets up and attempts to suckle. The mother walked a few steps away.

6. 1447 - female without a ID tag in shelter near holding. She was laying down and chewing cud.

7. Toby later in view with female herd across the road from waterbuck shelter. All of them were foraging on native grasses less than one inch tall in a broomsedge grassland area.

8. 1718 Lucifer with female close to other females, calves, and Toby feeding at hay bale. Lucifer does flehmen to the left with “no ID tag” female, she then jumps, turns, and urinates. He sniffs again, and she responded by stomping and tosses her head back. Lucifer follows her as she walks off two steps. Lucifer becomes uninterested and heads towards hay and three gemsbok.

9. 1725 waterbuck herd near hay with several gemsbok. They are all feeding and Lucifer comes into area. He begins feeding with the females, calves, and gemsbok. He stands off with gemsbok. He does not back down. Gemsbok deescalated. Another gemsbok displaces all the other waterbuck. Lucifer and gemsbok continue to head toss and Lucifer has his head down. They touch horns. No one backs down and continue feeding. Gemsbok does a head toss and Lucifer backs down and leaves.

Welcome Citizen Scientists!

Want to help collect natural history data for this inquiry project? This is where we will dialogue about the type of data and the procedures for uploading it to the map on the page “about waterbuck”. We welcome participation by students of all ages, who are interested in experiencing what it is like to actually do scientific inquiry.
