HSDEC Accepting Applications for Fall Interns

The Homeland Security Defense and Education Consortium has begun accepting applications for fall semester interns. There are currently several positions available in San Antonio TX, including internships in the Army’s Surgeons Office, Education and Training Division, and Public Affairs Office. Call for Papers on Immigration Law and Policy

The Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University has issued a call for papers and panelists for its upcoming symposium on Immigration Law and Policy.  Papers may cover any aspect of immigration, but are encouraged to focus on “undocumented immigrant status, employment, education, criminal procedure, race and the law, [and] racial profiling”.  Papers that are accepted for the symposium will also be published in a future edition of the Thurgood Marshall Law Review.

Summer Stipend Program

Open to Texas A&M University Faculty including TTI,  TAES, and TEES, the Limited Submission Proposal for the Naitonal Endowment for the Humanities Summer Stipends Program provides funds to individuals that are conducting research that contributes to the public’c understanding of the humanities.  The stipends will provide recipients with $6,000 for two full months of writing and research. 

Internal proposals are due by July 7th, 2008, and should be submitted electronically to osppc@tamu.edu.  Further details about the stipend can be found by clicking here.

Grant Writing Boot Camp

Sponsored by the Homeland Defense Journal, the Grant Writing Boot Camp will take place September 11-12, in Arlington VA.  The purpose of the boot camp is to provide participants with information on all stages of grant writing, but especially the researching and writing portions of the grant proposal.  The Boot Camp will be focused real project ideas, and participants are encouraged to bring with them actual grant ideas and uspporting documents, so that they are able to complete the majority of the grant proposal at the workshop.

4th Annual IAFIE Conference

On June 23rd, the International Association for Intelligence Education  (IAFIE) will hold its 4th annual conference on “Creating Intelligence Studies Education Programs and Academic Standards.”  The goals of the conference include exchanging ideas, curriculum, methodologies and best practices on intelligence education, as well as providing a forum for an exchange of research, and ideas on intelligence.  Speakers at the conference will include high level individuals in the intelligence community as well as influential individuals from academic and university settings.
