The Public Entity Risk Institute is hosting a free web seminar to explore the some times competing policy issues associated with homeland security and environmental protection. The Symposium will attempt to reconcile the aims of the sustainability movement with with those of the homeland security movement. Homeland Security Masters group in Facebook

Students, staff and faculty who are interested in the masters can also get information through the Homeland Security Masters Program group in Facebook. I will post periodic updates to that group as development of the program progresses. This would be a particularly good venue for students who are interested in applying to the program when it is launched.

McIntyre named to InfraGard board

David McIntyre, director of the Integrative Center for Homeland Security, was recently elected to the board of directors for the InfraGard National Members Alliance. Dr. McIntyre is chair of the Interim Steering Committee that is working on development of the new masters program in homeland security. More….

Dr. Garry Adams appointed to NRC Biodefense committee

Dr. Garry Adams, a member of our homeland security Interim Steering Committee, was recently appointed to the National Research Council’s Biodefense Standing Committee for the Department of Defense. His role will be to focus on biothreats and the creation of new and novel defense mechanisms. He is also the new associate dean for homeland security with the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, the first position dedicated to homeland security housed within a veterinary school.
