Biggest Burritos That I’ve Ever Seen!

December 7th, 2008 by tinapaek

I was studying today at Hastings and decided to take a lunch break at Freebirds World Burrito. As I walked inside, I couldn’t help but to realize all the aluminum foil figures that some of the customers made for the decor. The line was pretty long as I had to wait for about 10 minutes to finally get service. It was lunch time so I did understand. There were so many different sizes to pick for my burrito. I wasn’t extremely hungry so I got the smallest size which was the half-bird. Other sizes were freebird burrito, monster, and super monster. They also had choices of salads, burrito bowls, and tacos. Not only were there choices for the sizes but there were so many types of tortilla to choose from also. I picked the wheat but they had flour, cayenne, and spinach.

Next, I had the task of picking the items that I wanted to put in my burrito. They had the choice of onions, tomatoes, pico de gallo, shredded cheese, lettuce, cilantro, and corn salsa. Guacamole, sour cream, and queso cost a little extra. They also had different sauce choices like mild, medium, BBQ, and salsa.

I can barely remember what I even put in my burrito because I pretty much said yes to everything. My total was barely over $5 and it was worth it for the amount of food that I got inside my burrito.

If you’re ever in the mood for a burrito, try Freebirds. You will definitely get your money’s worth.

Until next time!

Cotton Patch Cafe

December 4th, 2008 by tinapaek

I know I’ve had a post about Cotton Patch Cafe, but it is hard for me not to eat there so often considering that I do work there. I went there to eat on one of my days off because I was craving their chicken quesadillas. They have a Pick Three lunch combo for the price of $6.99 and you get the choice of 1/2 chicken quesadillas, 1/2 club sandwich, bowl of soup, loaded baked potato, or any side item. I picked the 1/2 chicken quesadilas, 1/2 club sandwich and loaded baked potato.

It was pretty busy inside because most of the tables were full, but there was no wait. Our server did take awhile to take our oders though. Besides having to wait, it was still a good experience. I had a $5.00 coupon so my total was less than $10.00. Most of their items of the menu is no more than $20.00.
If you’re in the mood for a different variety of foods, go to Cotton Patch Cafe. That is why I ended up going and ordering three different things.

Until next time!

40 cent wings!

November 29th, 2008 by tinapaek

My best friend and I had the idea of going to Buffalo Wild Wings off University Dr. to try their 40 cents buffalo wings special on Tuesday. They also have drink specials, too. You have to get six wings for one flavor though. Honestly, our server was very slow. Luckily the food was good. We also ordered potato wedges with cheese and I did not think it was worth the price when I saw it.

We went on a double date, so my boyfriend’s meal and mine combined was about $12.00. They charge you extra for dipping sauce on the Tuesday’s Wing Special. I thought the price was reasonable considering we got 12 wings and a basket of potato wedges.

Surprisingly, there wasn’t a line at the front. I thought a lot of people would be there because the deal was so good. If you’re ever in the mood for wings, you should try Buffalo Wild Wings for their Tuesday’s WIng Special. The service was slow during my experience, but the food will make up for it!

Until next time!

Jason’s Deli

November 24th, 2008 by tinapaek

I was in the mood to eat a sandwich so my boyfriend and I decided to have lunch at Jason’s Deli before I had to leave for work. My roommate had suggested me to try their California Club which include turkey, guacamole, swiss cheese, bacon, and mayo on a croissant. It also came with sprouts but I asked to take that out.  I chose the Special Manager’s Half Sandwich Deal so I got a cup of broccoli cheese soup as well.

There was no line inside, but it wasn’t that busy around the time that we went. It did take about 10 minutes for our food to come out though. My meal was very filling and definitely worth the price. My meal was about $7.00 for half a sandwich, cup of soup, and some fruit.

Jason’s Deli also caters so check out their menu online at http://www.jasonsdeli.com/

Auntie Anne’s Pretzels

November 21st, 2008 by tinapaek

Do you ever pass by the pretzel stands in the mall and just crave them at the moment? Well, it happened to me today right before dinner time. For a quick snack, my roommate and I decided to buy one.  Luckily, I had a buy one, get one free coupon in my wallet!

The line was pretty long even though they had like five people working. The wait was worth it though. We both ordered an original pretzel and it was so good! They had so many different types to choose from besides originial of course. The total was exactly $2.65 for both our pretzels. Check out their website to see what else they have to offer: http://www.auntieannes.com/

If you’re ever in the mall, try Auntie Anne’s Pretzels. You won’t be able to resist!

Brown Bag Special

November 13th, 2008 by tinapaek

I know I’ve already had a post about Sonic, but that place is so good that I just had to write another one about it. They always have great deals on their foods and drinks! With the closest Sonic just being two minutes away from my house, it’s hard not to realize their great deals.

My roommate and I were coming back home from a meeting and she asked if I wanted to split Sonic’s “Brown Bag Special” with me. She told me it consisted of two burgers, two fries/tots, and two drinks for $6.99 which meant that I’d only have to pay her less than $4 for dinner. I couldn’t resist this good offer so we went ahead and drove to our nearest Sonic. It was around 6PM when we drove up to the drive thru and the line was not long at all. We were in and out of the line in less than 10 minutes.

We ate our food when we got home and our meal was very satisfying. I did feel very unhealthy after eating my meal though. Besides the vast amount of calories I consumed, I was still happy that we got such a great deal. If you and a friend are ever in the mood for burgers, try Sonic’s Brown Bag Special. I think it is only for a limited time so hurry before it ends!

Until next time!

WHAM TEXT

November 8th, 2008 by tinapaek

After a long day of decorating the house, my roommates and I decided to get some pizza. Instead of ordering in, we thought going to Boston’s was a better idea. One of my roommates told me about this thing called WHAM TEXT. You text Boston’s tamu to 469426 and you receive a text about specials. We did the WHAM TEXT and received an offer for a large pizza for half off. We couldn’t resist the offer.

We get to Boston’s and there was no line. We were immediately seated at our table and our server arrived shortly afterwards. He took awhile to get our drink orders, but it was pretty busy inside. We ordered one large pepperoni pizza and it was so good! It was definitely big enough for my roommates and I. After splitting the tab three ways, it cost each of us at least $5.00. This was a very good deal since we had that WHAM TEXT discount.

If you’re ever in the mood for pizza, try Boston’s and don’t forget to try that WHAM TEXT. Also, check out the website for Boston’s: http://www.bostonsgourmet.com/

Casual and Cheap

November 3rd, 2008 by tinapaek

One restaurant that is very popular on University Drive is Cheddar’s. I’ve been there several times for dinners and birthdays and it is always so busy. There is a wait almost every time I go. I went a couple of days ago with some friends and after about a 20 minutes wait, we were finally able to get a table. Our server was very nice and took our orders promptly. We ordered the spinach dip as an appetizer because it’s delicious and cheap. The inside of Cheddar’s is really casual and isn’t very fancy. Most of the meals on the menu were around $10 or less.

I ordered the grilled tilapia with mango salsa and it was so good! It came on a bed of seasoned rice and a choice of two sides. I picked a loaded baked potato and the broccoli cheese casserole. My meal only cost me about $8. I thought it was a pretty good deal because I was so full afterwards.

Cheddar’s offers many different types of food. From seafood to steaks, Cheddar’s is a good place for people with different tastes. Check out their website for their full menu: http://www.cheddars.com/

Until next time!

Free rolls and cornbread!

November 1st, 2008 by tinapaek

The closest restaurant to my house is Cotton Patch Café and it is one of my favorite places to eat. Whenever my roommates and I are in the mood for some blackberry cobbler, we always go here to fulfill our craving. I was actually in the mood for some chicken fried chicken so I went there a couple of days ago with one of my roommates. One of my favorite parts about this restaurant is that they give out free rolls. They also have free cornbread on request. I ordered a “Dixie Belle” portion of the chicken fried steak which means that it’s a smaller portion and a dollar off. My meal came out to be a little over $8.00. Our server was very friendly and the food came out in less than 10 minutes. The environment of the restaurant is sort of country and is a great family environment.

Cotton Patch Café offers so many different types of food. They have steaks, salads, seafood, burgers and so much more. Check out their website for the full menu: http://www.cottonpatch.com/

They also offer daily specials so ask your server about it if you go.

Fajitas for Two

October 24th, 2008 by tinapaek

After the movies, my roommate and I decide to have dinner at Ninfa’s. We were both hungry but not starving so we wanted to split something. There was a choice on the menu for 1/4 lb of chicken fajitas for about $10. We thought this would be perfect for the both of us. Our server took awhile to get our order though, but the place was very busy. We weren’t too upset about the slow service because we had free chips and salsa to munch on while we waited.

Although our service was slow, our food came out fast! I didn’t even believe it was our order when the guy brought it out to us. My roommate and I each had about two fajitas and even made room for some tortillas and honey. We both left knowing we got a really good deal.

If you’re ever in the mood for some fajitas, try Ninfa’s off of Highway 6.

Until next time!
