Character interaction showing weight
Here’s a little clip i made about the character catching 2 balls of different weight.
Project 2 Preview
Here’s a couple of screens of what I’ve done so far for project 2 which is due on Wednesday.
Got my guy rigged up, and it worked out alot better than my first attempt with the alien. I had alot of fun just playing with different poses after I got done. Here he is in the kick pose from the karate kid.
Here’s the little scene I made up for my animation, I had some trouble getting my characters imported in a clean way. Since my final movie doesn’t have a scene where 2 characters interact, I’m just making one up for the project.
Rigged (in a good way)
So this week’s excercise was a wonderful foray (spelling?) into the world of rigging and animating a walk cycle.
I want to show the process I went through in scroll down order, but here’s the video for the impatient.
This was one of the more time intensive projects we’ve had, for me at least. I got started by pulling up the alien model from project one and laying down some joints.
Next, I have to add all the kinematics. Which is just a fancy word that means telling them “you bend this way” This part was tough and I know I didn’t get everything just as I’d like on the feet, but it’ll do and the eye stalks turned out really well using some spline IK handles. I popped a couple of controllers on there too for later.
Next up I went ahead and bound the skeleton I made to the mesh of my model using a rigid skinning, i messed with smooth skinning, but there wasn’t enough joints in the torso and so the weight got distributed funny. I just like this part because it turns the joints pretty colors. Like so:
Skip ahead a bit, I ended up need a few more controllers for the animation so I put them in. and here’s the animation ready model. I tossed some shading on there just because.
That’s all for this week, stay tuned for Project 2 headed your way next week! Exciting, I know. Peace
Faaaaaantastic
This week we had to do a pendulum animation and 3 balls. We were supposed to use straight keyframing and no physics or dynamics (i think) so this ment alot of time messing around in the graph editor.
Here’s the pendulum graph, followed by a playblast animation.
Next, I animated 3 balls, the first a bouncing red rubber ball, the second a bowling ball type ball and last a really springy green ball. Here are the curves for all of them:
and heres the link to the render.
