January 29, 2009 President Obama signed an equal pay bill, his regards on this matter was the fact that equal pay for women and men is not only a women’s issue but the family’s as well. The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act makes it easier for women to file lawsuits for pay-discrimination, and to no longer be held back.

 Is it not enough that women go through the same amount of training and college as a man does yet only gets half? Even though this bill has been signed will Obama’s signature endorse any changes, will women still be discriminated in the work force? In the places i have worked i have always been taken lightly by male managers and or employees, even when it comes down to certain tasks or skills needed to complete what ever our goal is for that day. So how do we change this image, does one wait for society to accept such norms or does a woman accept second and move on? Will equal pay be the first step of a woman surviving in a man’s world?
