The new DOUGH barer

It has always been tradition for men in the family to bring in the dough and exceed in salary over the wife. Though as times are changing can men adapt to women being the barers of breadwinnings? Due to the recession the economy faces women have had the opportunity to pass men in the number of jobs held by women and in the income they make. Women have accomplished this due to the skills they have put to use within their line of work. Example jobs that keep women ahead are in the medical field or in education. But does this place a new image on women and their roles as care giver as opposed to dough barer. According to Stephanie Coontz, a research director of contemporary families, explained to Ms. JD for her article that women want a man that will share equality in child care, family responsibilities, and daily house chores with her. She also explains that women are afraid that their accomplishments or success could either scare a man away or that they will be felt forced to be discreet with the money they make and the pleasures they buy or enjoy.

So how will women overcome this fear? will a majority of women learn to cope and find men that are fine with coming in second in the role of breadwinner? These concerns are real for most women already either they feel they scare men away by their success or that a man to equal them is hard to find. Maybe since the role of bread barer is coming to a halt for men and on the rise for women is this the opportunity for women to take on more roles of men, maybe even seeking out the man instead of waiting for him to find make the first move? Could this fear of our power within be a positive contributor to society or a negative one? Only time will tell.
