When placed in environment where men rule the majority how far will a women go to survive or even rise to the top in the business? I read an article in Sports Illustraded about a women who was being sexually harassed for three years to move up in the marketing position she was currently in. Her salary increased year after year though her work never changed nor did she move up like she was lead to beleive. What amazes me most about this women’s story is how far she went to move up in her career, to be sexaully harassed and assulted for three years and not move up nor tell anyone is a great sacrifice for wanting to move up in rank in the workforce.

 According to Holden Maine Sexual harassment is defined as any “unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature when submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of a person’s employment, or rejection of such conduct by a person is used as a basis for employment decisions affecting that person, or conduct has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with a person’s work performance, and or conduct creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive work environment.”

In the end of the article the women came out to admit that the only reason she came out and told the truth was because her boss who had been the one harassing her all along wouldn’t help support her new pregnancy. I don’t know if i agree with, one for three years her keeping the fact that she was being sexually harassed by her boss, and two the reason why she eventually came out with it. As a women I will push and strive to rise up in the world of men and compete in more ways then one but but never do i agree with the down grading of a women to move forward.
